Virginia Duncan Smith's Obituary
Virginia Duncan Smith, 93, of Washington, VA died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at her home, Spring House Farm. She was born June 14, 1913 in Alexandria, VA to the late James Morton Duncan and Mary Virginia Cornwall Duncan.
Mrs. Smith was Commissioner of the Revenue of Rappahannock County. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Lee Smith Dillard of Washington, VA, and Mollie Smith Snead and her husband, Rayner of Lynchburg, VA, eight grandchildren, Virginia Doran Snead, Virginia Anne Dillard, Heather Lee Dillard, Rayner V. Snead, III, David Duncan Dillard, Scott Randolph Dillard, D. Benson Dillard, Christopher Y. Dillard, and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Smith, one grandchild, Lewis Duncan Snead, one sister, and four brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Jennings Hobson officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Rappahannock County Library, 4 Library Rd. Washington, VA 22747 &/or Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.
