Virginia Coates Apperson's Obituary
Virginia Coates Apperson, 87, of Culpeper died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Mrs. Apperson was born in Boston, VA on June 26, 1919 to the late Robert P. Coates Jr. and Ruth Weaver Coates.
Mrs. Apperson was a graduate of Culpeper High School and Mary Washington College and taught in the elementary school system for 38 years. She was a member of Alum Spring Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. She was a past member of the Culpeper Teachers Association, Virginia Education Association, Culpeper Retired Teachers Association, Culpeper Chapter of American Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Salem Garden Club, and the Inlet Homemakers Club.
Mrs. Apperson is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert G. Apperson of Culpeper, and two nephews, Stephen P. Will and his wife, Gwen of Boston, VA and Cyrus B. Will and his wife, Natalie of Fairborn, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert P. Coates, III, and a sister, Jane C. Will.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Yancey, Gary Carver, Mike Phillips, Bart Stanton, Mark James, Robert Clatterbuck, David Rincker, and Bill Stanton.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alum Spring Baptist Church, 11058 Dutch Hollow Rd, Culpeper, VA 22701.
