Virginia Robinson Young's Obituary
Virginia Robinson Young, 90, of Culpeper, Virginia went to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Dogwood Village in Orange, VA. She was born January 30, 1932 to the late James and Mary R. Nickens.
Virginia was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that always became a mother to everyone that she encountered. She always became a mother to all of our friends. Word puzzles and eating were her passions (Fried Chicken) along with hanging out with friends at the senior center.
Early in her career she was a domestic engineer and she worked as well in the family restaurant. She later changed her career path and moved on to Keller Manufacturing, where she later retired, then later returned to work at Long John Silvers as a prep person and the coleslaw became well known as Virginia’s Coleslaw.
She is survived by her children; Carolyn Williams, Vivian Young, Imogene Jackson, Karen Lee (Edward), Kimberly Lewis (Rodney), Sharon Williams (Larry), and Vincent Young (Trusha); sister, Sylvia Matthews; daughter-in-law, Joyce Young; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Additional survivors include; Josephine Minor, whom she treated like a daughter; best friend, Ruby Burke; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. Young; son, Ivan B. Young, Sr.; daughter, LaVern V. Young; and brother, Harvey W. Robinson.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 6. 2022 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U.S. Ave, Culpeper, VA 22701.
