Virginia Allen Lewis' Obituary
Virginia Allen Lewis, 77, of Culpeper passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Culpeper Health and Rehab Center. She was born March 8, 1948 to the late Robert and Marie Sheppard.
Virginia began her career cooking for the training center in Warrenton, where she was known for her warmth and dedication. She later continued her service to the community through her work with the Culpeper County School System, where she touched the lives of many students and staff with her kind spirit and steady presence. Her dedication to service extended beyond her career and into her faith. A devoted member of her church, she served faithfully as an Usher and remained actively involved in the church community throughout her life.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Arlena Lewis; her step son, Tyrone Rice; granddaughters, Tiesha Lawson and Mallory Scott; great grandchildren, Riley Lawson and Noah Deane Lawson; sister, Louise Sheppard Neal; best friend, Cynthia Williams; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her brothers, James Sheppard, Clarence Sheppard, Wilbur Sheppard, and John Sheppard; and sisters, Anita Sheppard Bland, Ethel Sheppard Brown, Yvonne Sheppard Long, Mami Sheppard, and Sarah White.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 1 p.m. Rising Zion Baptist Church, 18168 Springs Road, Jeffersonton, VA with Rev. Jerome Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 p.m.
Interment will follow at Sheppard Family Cemetery, 6263 Myers Mill Road, Jeffersonton, VA.
