Violet Marion Bernice Dowdey's Obituary
Violet Marion Bernice Dowdey, 80 died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home in Culpeper. Her longtime friend and caretaker, Geneva Williams was by her side. Miss Dowdey was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Churchhill and Virgie Mae Dowdey as well as her brother, Jessie C. Dowdey.
Miss Dowdey had been a lifelong resident of Culpeper. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, ASCS office in Culpeper.
Violet is survived by her brother, Clarence Franklin Dowdey, Sr of Culpeper, two nieces, Patsy Bernice Collins of Culpeper and Robin Ordway of Contoocook, NH and two nephews, Jay K. Dowdey of NH. and C. F. Dowdey of Mt. Laurel, NJ.
In addition she is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, Lori Ann Elizabeth Benish of Sterling, VA, Amy E. Sisk of Warrenton, Shawn, Corey, Jessie, Zachary and Travis of Contoocook, NH. Also surviving are two great great nephews, Jacob Collins and Michael Adam Sisk (A.J.) Jr. and a great great niece, Jada Ordway.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Found and Sons Chapel of Culpeper from 3 - 5 pm.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11 am at Found and Sons Chapel of Culpeper with the Rev. John S. Farrar officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
