Ms. Atkins was born in Rappahannock County where she spent many years picking apples and working in the orchards until she retired and moved to Culpeper County where she lived with her husband and son up until her husband passed in 1987. She would spend her time riding to sell wood or do tree work with her son Ricky Atkins and great grandson Eric Giles. She enjoyed being around her family every chance she could, especially all the family gatherings that would come up. Her family was very important to her. She was very happy whenever she got visits.
In part, the Atkins family would like to thank hospice for always being there to answer questions to help in any way they possibly could and to just make the transition go smoother. Also a special thanks to Trish Menefee, Patricia Menefee, and Carol Bean; family members that came out to help with her care during this time.
Pallbearers will be Adam Atkins, Kennie Atkins, Wilson Atkins, Coty Atkins, Eric Giles, Dustin Gallimore, and Rick Suthard. Honorary pallbearer is Ion Williams.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 2 pm at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Alpheus Atkins, Jr. conducting the service.
