Vernita M. Shane-Tatro's Obituary
Vernita M. Shane, age 75, passed away July 18, 2022 in Culpeper, VA after a long courageous fight with diabetes. She was born and raised on Elm Row Farm in Westville, NY, the fifth daughter of Emmett and Beatrice (Dumas) Shane on January 14, 1947.
She attended St. Joseph’s Ursuline Academy in Malone, NY and graduated from Salmon River High School 1965.
She was united in marriage to Albert Conto at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, NY. They have a son, Aric Conto, who also lived in Culpeper.
She moved to Culpeper in 1980.
She had many talents, loved music, won many dancing awards, loved animals, trained and worked with horses many years, taught exercise classes and trained in Karate for 5 years. Worked many years at Carter Bank and Trust in Culpeper where she was currently employed.
Survived by son, Aric, his wife, Heidi, and four grandchildren, Ava, Arica, Jacob, and Logan; her sisters, Elizabeth Danielak, Carolyn Faubert, and Patricia Thompson; her nieces, Marybeth Thornton and Maureen Faubert; and a nephew, Shane Faubert.
She was preceded in death by parents, Mr. & Mrs. Emmett Shane; sister, Mary Frances Shane; brothers-in-law, Jules Faubert, Walter Danielak, and Lyle Thompson; and a nephew, Walter Danielak.
Interment will be in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington, NY on July 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
