Verda "Jane" Butler Thornhill's Obituary
Verda “Jane” Butler Thornhill, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and second “Mom” to many, went home to be with her Lord on March 15, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1930 as one of seven children to the late George R. Butler, Sr. and Beatrice Weaver Butler.
Jane enjoyed being a homemaker and servant to many. Her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, was shown in everything she did. She did not hesitate to share what the Lord had done in her life and what He could do for you.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Jerry M. Thornhill and his wife, Sherry; and daughter-in-law, Karen Rife Thornhill; grandchildren, John Gordon Clore, Suzanne Clore, Ashleigh T. Levesque (John), Amanda T. Morrison (John); and her great grandchildren, Graceyn Levesque, Grant Levesque and Corbin Morrison.
Additional survivors include her sister, Jean B. Gibbs (Bill); brothers, George “Bunk” Butler (Yvonne), Markwood Butler (Winnie), Maurice Butler; sisters-in-law, Linda Butler and Patsy Butler; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, “Buddy” Thornhill; her son, Rick Thornhill; her daughter, Valerie T. Clore; and two brothers, Wayne Butler and Freddie Butler.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Harrelson officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Thornhill, Darrell Butler, Matt Corbin, Mark Butler, Jason Butler, John Butler, Paul Butler, Scott Keithley, Jason Thornhill, and Brian Timmons.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in memory of Jane to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund, 19 Scrabble Rd., Boston, VA 22713.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
