Tomas Makris' Obituary
Tomas Ross Makris, age 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Mary Washington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and valiant battle.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and fiercely loyal friend. Tomas was owner/founder of a self-made business out of Springfield, Virginia, as the story goes, it began with a single truck, and a charming sale on the spot from a man that wanted to grow in every way possible,
A die-hard Washington Redskins fan, Tom approached his Sunday rituals with unmatched enthusiasm and loyalty. He was also a lifelong lover of music and a percussionist at heart. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and, in recent years, harvesting oysters to share with others. Tom could always be counted on to keep things moving in an entertaining direction. His stories and unmistakable demeanor held people's attention for hours, often leaving behind a meaningful lesson about life.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Elizabeth Makris (nee Groves); his children, Martin (Jen), Lexie, and Elliot (Stephani); and his five cherished grandchildren, Lorelei, Wyatt, Ava, Everett, and Maison, each of whom was deeply loved by their grandfather.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Jim, Karen (Daryl), Michael (Katie), Nicolas, and Alexander, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, James, Barbara, and stepmother Chris.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom's life on Saturday, August 15, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the home of Jim Makris, 5626 Wilshire, Warrenton Va.
