Thomas Harvey Norris, Sr.'s Obituary
Thomas Harvey Norris, Sr., 69, of Reva died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1938 in Rockwood, TN to the late Gaines E. Norris and Malvina Rogers Norris.
Mr. Norris served 24 years in law enforcement as a hostage negotiator, firearms instructor, and crime photographer with the Prince William Sherriff’s Department and Prince William Regional Adult Detention Center. Although fond of his career, he loved being retired. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding on his golf cart.
He is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years, Carla Sue Norris of Reva, three children, Gregory E. Norris, Sr. and his wife, Kathy of Reva, Lavada Marie Norris Browell and her husband, Bob of Churchill, TN, and Thomas H. “Tim” Norris, Jr. of Manassas, one sister, Myrna Miller and her husband, Fred and their family of Rockwood, TN, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Norris.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 4 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Bernie Jernigan officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Honors will be presented by the Prince William Sherriff’s Department and serving as pallbearers will be Prince William Regional Adult Detention Center.
Interment will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN. Pallbearers will be the Roane County Sherriff’s Department in Rockwood.
He was born in Rockwood, TN later moving to Reva, VA, and now he is going back home to be laid to rest. Therefore the family request that no flowers be sent but donations to please be made to Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.
