Thomas Lee Toliver Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas Lee Toliver Jr., 58, of Woodbridge, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the INOVA Alexandria Hospital. He was born December 2, 1962 to Mary Louise Toliver and the late Thomas Lee Toliver, Sr. of Culpeper, Virginia.
Thomas is survived by his devoted and loving daughter, Rebekah Toliver; his mother, Mrs. Mary Louise Toliver of Culpeper; two sisters, Regina Toliver Farr (Calvin) of Chester, Virginia, Dr. Eugenia Toliver Powell (Juan) or Bowie, Maryland and Nigist Toliver of Lorton, Virginia. Survivors also include, two nephews, Jamaal K. Powell and Jabari K. Powell, and one niece Alexis N. Farr; first cousins; Edward Leach (Susan), Phoenix, Arizona; Carolyn Toliver Robinson (Dallas), Kernersville, North Carolina; Darryle Toliver (Glenetta) of Charlottesville, Virginia; and Deborah Leach, Mt. Morris, New York. Thomas is survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, Thomas was preceded in death by one uncle, James S. Toliver, Sr., and first cousin James R. “Peanut” Toliver, Sr.
Thomas was a graduate of Culpeper County High School and Virginia State University whereby he received a degree in Business/Hotel and Restaurant Management. Thomas was a proven hospitality and management professional at various firms during his career. He was recognized for his financial acumen in hotel management with expertise in restaurant and catering startups for large hotels. He enjoyed culinary arts and preparing healthy dishes for family. He was an avid workout member and enjoyed movies, football, and family gatherings. His daughter, “Becky” was the “apple of his eye” and was so very proud of her and her accomplishments and aspirations in life. Thomas was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, Virginia where he served as a trustee and an usher.
Due to Covid-19, a private celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 (no viewing). Interment will be held at the Nazareth Baptist Church Cemetery.
