Thomas William Smoot Sr.'s Obituary
Thomas William Smoot, Sr. 74, of Reva peacefully passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence. Thomas was born in Rappahannock County to the late Reuben Wesley and Rosie Lee Riley Smoot on September 10, 1941.
Thomas was passionate about spending time outdoors, where he enjoyed the beauty of the nature surrounding him. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and gardener. He is known to share numerous tall tales amongst his friends and strangers in the early mornings at Reva Market. He would be seen wandering throughout Gander Mountain and the Mountain View Gun Shop simply to window shop envisioning his next endeavor out in the wilderness. He rarely missed a Saturday night Chicken Dinner down at the Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Ultimately, he found heartfelt appreciation spending time with his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lee Peyton Smoot of Reva, Va. his son, Thomas William Smoot, Jr. and wife, Jacqueline Ann Smoot also of Reva, Va. three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Carrie Harris and Mary Lee Estes both of Culpeper, Va.; and one brother Reuben Smoot of Amissville, Va.
In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by one sister, Etta Jane Smoot; two brother-in-law’s, Cecil “Buck” Harris and Harold B. Estes, Sr.; and two nephews, Freddie Jenkins and Harold B. Estes, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va. with Pastor Sandy Martin officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service.
The family requests in addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 29316 Eleys Ford Road, Richardsville, Va., 22736.
