Thomas Jay McCormick's Obituary
Thomas Jay McCormick, age 64, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his home in Centreville, Virginia.
Tom was born on November 23, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College, a Master of Science degree from Troy State University, and a Master of Arts Degree from Boston University. Tom served in the Army for 20 years as a field artilleryman and later as a military intelligence officer. He served one tour in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1969 to 1970, and was stationed in numerous locations throughout the US and Europe during the remainder of his career. After retiring in 1988, Tom went to work for GTE, applying his extensive knowledge and experience to various studies for the Department of Defense. In 1996, he became a partner in his own company, Alpha Informatics, Limited, and continued to conduct a wide range of studies for the Department of Defense and other government organizations. Tom was a scholar, a linguist, a tireless and dedicated worker, and a loyal friend, husband, and father.
He is survived by his wife Pat, his step-son Randy, and two daughters from a previous marriage, Melissa and Laureen.
A memorial celebration will take place at 2PM on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Found & Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109, followed by a reception in the Manassas area. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends wishing to make gifts in his memory do so to the charity of their choice.
