Thomas Everett Gibson, Sr.'s Obituary
Thomas Everett Gibson, Sr., 89, of Culpeper passed Saturday, June 22, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 30, 1930 in Rappahannock County to the late Nighten and Fenton Gibson.
Thomas was a member and Deacon of Nazareth Baptist Church in Boston, VA. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He worked for the Culpeper County Post Office where he retired after 45 years of service. Thomas took pride in many aspects of his life, a few were caring for his farm and mowing grass for his family and friends. If he was not busy involved in those activities you could find him listening to gospel music or the blues and dancing along with it.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Violet Morton Gibson; his children, Patricia Hearns, Thomas Gibson, Jr., Michael Gibson; three grandchildren, Shayla Ferris, Shawn Ferris, Zamir Gibson; three bothers in law, Stanley, Clifton, and Charles and their spouses; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by death by his siblings, Marjorie Brock, Idabelle Holmes, Helen Lewis, Ruth Lewis Bates, James Nighten Gibson, and Infant Leroy Gibson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church, Boston Drive, Boston, VA, with Rev. Howard Frye officiating and Rev James Holmes residing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Fellowship will follow interment at the church.
