Theresa Secret Boos' Obituary
On Friday May 17, 2019 Theresa Secret Boos, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Greenfield Nursing Home in Stafford County, Virginia.
Theresa was born on March 8, 1927 in New York City, NY, the first child and only daughter of Frank and Margaret Secret.
Theresa married her true love and best friend Edward Robert Boos on October 31, 1948. They were married for over 68 years when Edward passed away at age 95 on April 20, 2017. Together they were blessed to raise and enjoy three adoring children in Yonkers, New York, and then seven amazing grandchildren in Northern Virginia.
Theresa was a devout Catholic and a very active parishioner and volunteer. She loved the NY Yankees and was especially fond of Mickey Mantle and Joe Pepitone. She spent many hours listening to the games on the radio on “WINS 1010 – All the news, all the time.” It wasn’t until son Christopher was in the 6th grade that he realized that a radio station actually played music, not just broadcast news and ball games.
Theresa was an avid bowler and frequently mentioned in The Herald Statesman, the local newspaper, for her bowling accomplishments with the Colombiettes League.
Following professional dancing lessons at Arthur Murray, she enjoyed ballroom dancing with her lifelong dance partner Eddie at many events with the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge.
Theresa was the ultimate matriarch and a loving, dedicated wife and mother in addition to her career including managing the accounting books for Eddie’s Getty Oil Service Stations. She worked at Elizabeth Seton College, in the banking industry, and even dabbled in real estate.
Her hobbies included embroidery, needlepoint, crocheting, playing bridge and mahjong, and she never shied away from a challenging jigsaw puzzle or Sunday crossword.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Eddie and her younger brother, Frank Secret.
Theresa is survived by daughter Patricia McAndrews (James McAndrews III); sons, Christopher (Karen Boos), and Michael (Kimberly Boos); grandchildren, James IV, (Kaitlyn Roche), Kyle (Claire Charamnac), Lucas, Monica and Theresa McAndrews, and Hudson and Jacqueline Boos.
A private memorial gathering will be held with the immediate family on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Burial will be held at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Condolences may be left at www.foundandsons.com
