Theordore "Ted" C. Pellegatta Jr.'s Obituary
Born on December 4, 1939, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, Theodore C. Pellegatta Jr.—known to many as Ted—was the beloved son of the late Theodore C. Pellegatta and Lida May (Mohring) Pellegatta. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Ann “Penny” Matweecha, in March 2025.
Ted is survived by his niece, Pamela Matweecha; his nephews, Thomas and Dean Matweecha; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends.
Ted’s parents were the proprietors of Pellegatta’s Hotel, a bar, restaurant, and hotel founded in 1894 in Fountain Hill, PA. The establishment became a local institution, welcoming generations of Lehigh University students and faculty, politicians, musicians, and dignitaries. Ted spent his formative years living above the restaurant and working alongside his family, immersed in the vibrant life of the community.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
