Thelma Ruth Provard Stevens, 86, of Culpeper, VA, formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. She was born on February 2, 1926 in Bino, PA to the late Jeremiah D. and Anna Madora Provard. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Glenn C. Stevens.
Thelma was a member of the American legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 517 and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 6241 both in Mercersburg, PA.
Thelma was a homemaker and loving mother of six children. Melinda Stevens of Culpeper, VA, Marilyn Stevens Speelman of Culpeper, VA, Glenn C. Stevens of Greencastle, PA, Carl C. Stevens of Shippensburg, PA, Richard Lee Stevens and wife Rhonda of Culpeper, VA, and Marc A. Stevens and wife Sandy of Hagerstown, MD. Ten grandchildren: Steve Speelman, Kris Speelman, Michael Stevens, Brandi Stevens, Nevin Stevens, Clinton Stevens, Darian Stevens, Karen Stevens, Scott Stevens and Carli Stevens. Two step-grandchildren: Kristen Leeks and Jonathon Thompson. Eleven great-grandchildren: Zach Speelman, Austin Speelman, Emily Speelman, Dakota, Harley & Cheyenne Stevens, Nevin, Jr., James and Laken Stevens, Skylar Stevens and Nobie Stevens, and three step-great-grandchildren: Jeremiah DeRusso, Duece and Kylie Leeks.
A private viewing for family and close friends will be held at Zimmerman and Sons Funeral Chapel in Greencastle, Pennsylvania at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29th, with graveside services following at Spring Grove Cemetery in Lemasters, PA. Michael Myers will officiate the services.
