MGySgt Terry N Traywick's Obituary
Ret. MGySgt Terry (Ted) Traywick, born August 10, 1928 passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. He was 90 years young.
Born to Howard & Faye Traywick in Belmont, NC he was the oldest of six children, including Dorothy Mauldin (deceased), Billie Kaye Acker (deceased), Lyda Stephens, Frank Traywick, and Nancy Eller.
Ted leaves behind his wife of nearly 68 years, Marcia Jean Traywick; four loving children, Timothy Traywick (Cindy), Anna Wilson (Neil), Thomas Traywick (Debbie), Barbara Naughton (Kevin), and a son-in-law, Mark Granville-Smith, 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Granville-Smith.
Ted served 24 years in the Marine Corps where he was part of an elite group, formed to- ward the end of WWII, called the “China Marines”. In addition, he worked 20 years for the Marine Corp Assoc. as their Business Manager, publishing the “Leatherneck” and “Marine Corps Gazette”, and building a strong Association for the Marine Corps.
His views were witty, wry, humorous, and true. He enjoyed any and all games of chance. He will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Rd., Triangle, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery with full military honors. A reception will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
