Sylvia Hoffman Christian's Obituary
Sylvia Hoffman Christian, 54, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was born on April 6, 1969, in Charlottesville, VA.
Sylvia graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, VA, class of 1988. After graduating, she attended Flair Beauty School and earned her cosmetology license. Sylvia worked as a beautician and married her high school sweetheart, Amos Christian. They had two sons: Amos Tyrell and Aaron Donte’ Christian.
Sylvia was an outgoing and caring person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed being on the go and cooking, and over the years, she worked alongside her sisters, catering events.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Amos “Rell” Christian (Tiffany) and Aaron “Donte” Christian (Chassiti); niece, Alyssa Rider (who was more like her daughter); four devoted aunts, Paula Banks (Woodrow), Carol Barbee, Jacqueline Glascoe, and Delores Glascoe; stepfather, Fred Jackson; stepbrother, Mel Jackson; five devoted sisters-in-law, Michelle Thomas (Eric), Brenda Chandler (Butch), Linda Williams, Beverly Mitchell (Lester), and Wanda Christian; her grandchildren, Jayzmin, Javeah, Javian, Lu Kang, Jermain, Meilani, Jaceyon, Layliana, and Anastasia; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Christian; her father Forrest Hoffman; her mother, Diana Glascoe Jackson, who passed away in 2022; and two sisters, Alicia "Lynn" Minor and Pamela Hoffman. Sylvia missed them all dearly.
Sylvia will be remembered for her infectious smile, generous spirit, her love for God and people. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Canaan Baptist Church, Shanktown Road, Reva, VA.
