Steve was a true friend in Christ and and a true friend in life. We talked almost every day, and shared a lot of prayers for each other. He was the most devoted person I have ever known...devoted to his wife, to his kids, to his friends, and to the Lord. When he lost Darlene, he was devastated, and I shared that with him over the loss of my wife at the exact same age. His book was heartfelt and showed the love he had for Darlene.
The day before he passed away, he called me to tell me about his conversation with a young boy who was in trouble with the law. In spite of his severe health situation, Steve spent an hour and a half on the phone with this boy telling him that he needed Jesus in his life and needed to repent for his sins. He said that when he was finished talking to the boy, he was "worn out", but he felt he needed to "save" the young man. That was Steve. Devoted to the Lord and willing to work for the good in every man until his dying day.
When I said I hated to see him decline in health and was praying for him many times each day, he just said "it's all good"
May you rest in peace my good friend and enjoy, once again, your time with Darlene...this time for eternity.
