Steven Lee Buchanan's Obituary
Steven Lee Buchanan ascended into Glory at 11:35pm on October 9, 2023. He recently celebrated his 56th birthday on October 5th. He was in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loved ones when his spirit departed this earth, after a 14-month long battle with brain cancer.
Steve was the oldest child of Steve William and Sally Lynn Buchanan. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lester Marcey.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Gloria Almeda Buchanan; their son, Steven Lee Buchanan, and his wife, Lilly. He also leaves behind two adoring sisters, Lisa Ann Gonzales, and her husband, Sergio, and Shannon Lynn Pollard, and her husband, Archie, and their children and grandchildren; his loving mother-in-law, Martha Marcey; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Freeman; Terry Wilson; one niece, Emily Inskeep, her husband, Garrett, and their son, Emmett; and a host of extended family to include uncles, aunts and cousins, who he adored.
Steve and Gloria have been together since their early teens, and raised their family in Culpeper, VA, where they lived with their beagle, Jessi Lynn, and their cats, Sadie and Buster. They were honored members of their community. Steve was deeply cherished, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There was no one else like him.
Steve was loved by all who knew him. He was bigger than life and excelled in everything he did. He was a master electrician, expert marksman, skilled hunter, avid fisherman, and loving husband, father, son and brother. He was recently honored by Buhl Electric for his 36 years of dedicated service. His absence there has been greatly felt. The members of the North South Skirmish Association, his competition shooting organization of nearly 30 years, have also felt that absence.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to John Buhl, Jr. and Buhl Electric and his caregivers at The Culpeper and Hospice of the Piedmont.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Jeff Light officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Remington Cemetery.
