Stephen Allen Lomax's Obituary
Stephen Allen Lomax, 73, left this life at home in Rixeyville on June 17, 2026. He was born in Fauquier County on June 26, 1952, to Cecil Leon Lomax and Frances P. Long.
Steve grew up and was part-owner of the Lomax family farm in Opal. He later moved on to owning and operating heavy equipment and building houses. He loved working in his garden and often shared his bounty with family and friends. He had a great love of working with his hands and welding, building his own tractor, wagons, and buggy, which he would give rides to his dogs and grandchildren.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lawrence Lomax.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Jo Ann Melton; two sons, Buck (Shannon) and Robbie (Kimberly); four grandchildren, Gavin, Ethan, Elaina, and Wyatt; his "little buddy" Boo; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
