Rev. Stephen D. Dodson Jr.'s Obituary
Reverend Stephen D. Dodson, Jr., 54, of Culpeper, Virginia went to be with Jesus on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence. He was born on January 14, 1967, the son of Stephen Douglas Dodson and Hazel
L. (May) Dodson.
Pastor Steve is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Fellowship. He began his ministry as a
tent evangelist and later went to serve as the Lead Pastor of Hazel River Assembly of God Church in Culpeper, Virginia for the last 27 years from 1994-2021. His heart was to “Love God and Love People” and had a passion for people both in his community and around the world.
He was a beloved husband of 35 years, daddy, pappi, son and brother. He loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and spending time with his home and church family, as well as his puppy Bear. Hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and target practice were all activities that he enjoyed. He was a friend and mentor to countless individuals with a servant’s heart who was always willing to help.
Awaiting to reunite with Pastor Steve is his wife and best friend, Lisa H. Dodson; his best buddy Rev. Stephen “Houndog” D. Dodson, III. (son) and his wife Nicole F. Dodson, and his baby girl Rev. Bethany L.
Carlson (daughter) and her husband Jared W. Carlson; and three grandbabies: Brayden Dodson, Paislee Dodson, and Ezekiel Carlson.
He is also survived by his father and mother, Stephen D. Dodson, Sr. and Hazel Dodson of Boston, Virginia; and his sister,Teresa Smith and her husband Danny of Reva, Virginia.
A Celebration Service of his life will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at Hazel River
Assembly of God Church in Culpeper, Virginia. There will be a time of visitation preceding this at 10:00

Everyone is invited to the ACTS Center for a meal following the Celebration. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Hazel River Church Building Fund: these can be mailed to 14383 Hazel River Church Rd., Culpeper, VA 22701 or made online at www.hazelriverchurch.org.
Burial will be private.
