Stephanie Margareta Lindsay's Obituary
RELECTIONS OF THE LIFE OF STEPHANIE MARGARETA LINDSAY
“Devoted Mother and Caregiver”
Stephanie Lindsay (affectionately known as Doll), peacefully passed away on May 31, 2023 at the UVA Hospital in Culpeper, Virginia. Stephanie Margareta Lindsay (née Passley) was born on September 26, 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies to Ethlyn Miller and the late, Arnold Passley. She was the beloved mother to her only child Stephan Lindsay, who is her pride and joy.
In her earliest years, she attended Aenon Town All Age School and Knox College in Clarendon, Jamaica. After college, she worked for several years in Kingston, Jamaica in a number of administrative roles. Then, she migrated to the United States in 1996, where she joined and lived with her husband, Hylton Lindsay, in the Bronx, New York for several years. In 2005, they relocated to Culpeper, Virginia where Stephanie furthered her studies in the health field and received an Associate degree from Germanna Community College in Locust Grove, Virginia. Stephanie was very passionate about helping others and cared deeply about patient care, which was one of her many talents. With her continued dedication to the healthcare field, she obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in 2010 to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She also satisfied education requirements for New York and New Jersey and obtained her LPN licenses for these states. Her most recent work experiences were at the Spring Arbor Senior Living, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and The Culpeper, a retirement home, in Culpeper, Virginia as an LPN. She was known by her work colleagues and patients as extremely friendly, compassionate, and dedicated to her job, which she exhibited even during her most recent illness.
Stephanie also grew up with a strong Christian foundation, having attended the Barracks Tabernacle Church in Aenon Town, Clarendon, Jamaica with her grandmother and siblings. She faithfully accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her early teens and continued to serve God throughout the rest of her life. While married to Hylton, she adopted the Seventh Day Adventist faith and was a late member of the Penuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Brandy Station, Virginia. Stephanie’s relationship with the Lord was strong. She knew God loved her with an everlasting love (ESV, Jeremiah 31:3). She had no fear of death and considered herself blessed to have been loved by so many family and friends. Stephanie especially will be remembered for her most beautiful smile, one that could light up your soul; her love of singing, which she often sang for her patients and loved ones; and her kindness and her ability to easily make new friends. She also laughed a lot and made others laugh too and was never a shy person when it came to food.
Stephanie is survived by her son, mother, two brothers, two sisters, several nephews, nieces, cousins, in- laws, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and a brother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Safe in the arms of Jesus until we meet again!
He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces! (ESV, Isaiah 25:8)
