Stanley Lee Swaim's Obituary
Stanley Lee Swaim, 82, of Culpeper died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born November 23, 1929 in Cumberland, MD to the late Irvin and Agnes Rankin Swaim.
Mr. Swaim moved to the Culpeper area in 1970 from Berkeley Springs, WV. He attended Walnut Hill United Pentecostal Church in Fredericksburg. He worked and retired from Martin Marietta in 1996 with more than 10 years of service. He was a familiar face as a greeter in many businesses in the area like gas stations and supermarkets which he enjoyed until he became ill. The family describes him as a rambler; he loved to talk to anyone who came his way. He loved NASCAR, tractor pulls, fishing and picking parties to his favorite, bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Nestor Swaim; They had just celebrated their 60th anniversary August 2, 2012; two children, Cheryl Grimes of Culpeper and David Swaim and his wife, Gail of Jeffersonton, one grandchild, Nikki St. Laurent and her husband, Ron, and five great grandchildren, Brady, Blake, Alexis, Quinton and Benjamin, all of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Patricia Kesecker and her husband, Dean of Berkeley Springs, WV and Altha Nestor of State College, PA, one sister-in-law, Jean Swaim, special friends, Arthur and Pat Duckfield of Culpeper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Daniel, two brothers, Kenneth and James and one son-in-law, Ronald Grimes.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Fletcher and Pastor Mike Campeau officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
