Shirley Ann McDaniel's Obituary
Shirley Ann McDaniel, 70, of Luray died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at her residence. She was born on June 15, 1939 in Ridgley, WV to the late Basil and Lillian Helmick Grogg.
Mrs. McDaniel was a member of Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church in Luray. Her caring and giving nature showed throughout her life in giving all of herself to the one’s she loved and cherished. She wrote beautiful poetry and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, friend and a strong woman having showed her strength and endurance in the last days of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lester McDaniel, three children, Rhonda Scott and her husband, Roy of Manassas, Trey McDaniel and his wife, Sheryl of Luray, and Derek McDaniel and his wife, Crystal of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Kate Arnold, Eva Ryan and Sharon Klosterman and five grandchildren, Zachary, Desiree, J.B., Troy and Alexis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mason and Charles Grogg.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Buddy Caviness officiating.
Interment will follow in Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Scott, J.B. McDaniel, Troy McDaniel, Allen Kato, Joel Velasquez and Conrad Holtzlag.
