Shirley Ann Whittington's Obituary
On November 12, 2024, Shirley was tragically killed in an auto accident. Suddenly untethered from the earth, she is now free to pursue her wishes to become a scholar, anthropologist, artist, writer, storyteller, and world traveler.
She is survived by her trusty sidekick, beloved husband Michael of 39 years. They turned every drive into a joyride; son, Doug Mullins (Karen) of California; daughters, Dee Dee Stergis (George) of Culpeper, Virginia, and Cheri Palmer (David) of California; and multiple grand and great-grandchildren. Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys in life. She was one of four “Waddell Girls”, along with her sisters, Juanita (Larry) Breeden, Beatrice Henry, and Dolores (Don) Hone.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Mike Mullins (Dean) of Washington State.
Shirley’s zest for life was infectious. A joyful laugh and a beautiful smile. She was quick to love, quick to forgive, ready with pearls of wisdom, and a comforting hug. She will be greatly missed.
Mike and Shirley moved to Virginia nearly 10 years ago. They loved living in Culpeper and in a short time, they were surrounded by numerous friends of common interest.
Shirley was adamant about not wanting a funeral service, now she's too busy to attend.
Godspeed!
