Shirley Horne Strickland-Brown's Obituary
Shirley Horne Strickland-Brown died on December 1, 2013. She was born to Robert E. and Marion Savoie Horne of Berlin, New Hampshire, being their only daughter, on April 3, 1925.
She was employed by New England Tel & Tel before her marriage to Wallace Strickland who was also from New Hampshire.
Shirley was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and tending to her flowers.
Shirley and her family joined the first Methodist church in Monticello, Florida while the family lived there. She was also baptized there.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold of New York and Tommy of Gorham, New Hampshire, and her husbands Wallace Strickland and Eugene Brown.
Survivors include her children Stuart Strickland and his wife Tricia of Key West, Florida. Kim Parker and her husband Roger and Steve Strickland and his wife Rita of Culpeper. Grandchildren are Melissa Deal and her husband Gary, Kellie and husband Bobby of Culpeper, Shelby Strickland and his wife Alyson of Chesapeake, VA, and Mark Parker of VA Beach. Also four great grandchildren, Parker Jones, Morgan Kerns, Addison and Avery Strickland.
She is also survived by her step children Steve and Terry Brown, Wayne and Joyce Brown, Judy and Jerry Brown of Oklahoma and their children and grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Private.
