Shirley Lee Compton Gorman's Obituary
Shirley Lee Compton Gorman, age 89, of Culpeper, unexpectedly passed away at her residence into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1935, in Rixeyville, Virginia, to the late Robert Edward Compton and Geneva Frances Kibler Compton.
Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who shared her unwavering faith in Jesus with all she met. Her heart resonated with the melodies she played on the piano, and she thrived on taking care of her family. She enjoyed exploring new places and embracing every adventure with open arms. Shirley found immense joy in her loved ones, Church, garden, nurturing her beloved flowers, and treasuring every precious moment spent with her family. Shirley’s vibrant spirit and boundless love brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She leaves behind her cherished family; daughters, Constance Yvonne Gorman and Debra Elaine Gorman; grandchildren; her faithful companion Cynthia Nicole Gorman Wolford, Samantha Elaine Gorman James and spouse, Danny, James Phillip Gorman and spouse, Melinda, Michael Brian Gorman and spouse, Tanya, and Shannon Nicole Shackleford and spouse, Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Haley Marie Gorman, Nathan Daniel James, Kailyn Brooke Deal, Hannah Atiya James, Madelyn Grace Shackleford, and James Phillip Gorman, Jr; and her sister, Barbara Ann Sae-ngov.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was greeted in Heaven by her beloved husband, James Phillip Gorman, and her siblings, Mary Martin and Frank Compton.
The family will welcome friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church, 601 Madison Road, Culpeper. A funeral service to honor Shirley's beautiful life will follow at 11:00 a.m., led by Pastor Bradley Hales.

Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
