Sherry Carolyn Juroff's Obituary
Sherry Carolyn Juroff, 78, was reunited with her heavenly Father on July 19, 2023. She is survived on this earth by her husband, Capt Kurt Juroff, USN (Ret); daughters Susan Lystlund (David) and Shannon Boothe (Scott); granddaughters Madison and Olivia Boothe; sister Sandy Verdery (Ted); niece Lauren; nephew Rob (Clare); and great-nephew Quin. She was the daughter of USAF Col Robert and Johnie Simmons.
Sherry was born in Tylertown, Mississippi. She had lived in three countries and many states of the USA, but Virginia was her home. Kurt and Sherry were married at the Ft. Myer Chapel in 1966. She was a graduate of George Washington and Regent Universities. She volunteered as a counselor for the Navy Relief Society and comforted wounded warriors at Balboa Hospital in San Diego during the Vietnam conflict. As a Navy Arlington Lady, she consoled families of Navy veterans during burials at Arlington National Cemetery. She taught in schools wherever the Navy stationed the family while also taking graduate courses. Later, she taught English as a second language. She was an avid reader, especially of genealogy, history, and Christian books. She served as a member of multiple chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, including the Culpeper Minute Men, Albemarle, and Anna Maria Fitzhugh chapters.
Sherry gave birth, mourned the loss of her beloved father, and raised two beautiful girls, mostly while her husband was at sea.
