Shelby Corbin's Obituary
Shelby Jean Corbin, 71 of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 8, 2010.
She was a member of Spotswood Baptist Church. Shelby’s career in communications started as an operator for the C&P Telephone company and later worked as a police communications officer for Mary Washington College until she retired after 21 years of service. After retirement, Shelby became a Mary Kay Beauty consultant.
Shelby is survived by her two daughters; Sheila Faye Tipton and husband Arnold Lee of Fredericksburg, Cheryl Diane Stewart and husband Robert Eugene of Michigan, a sister; Barbara Ann Schaaf of Richmond, two grandsons; Brian Lee Tipton of Fredericksburg and Christopher Scott Stewart and wife Ginnie of Tennessee, two great-grandchildren; Matthew Christopher Stewart and Taylor Marie Stewart both of Tennessee.
Shelby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Franklin R. Corbin and her three brothers, Howard Leroy Embrey, Allen Jones Embrey and Earl Gordon Embrey.
Shelby’s family will receive friends Monday, February 15, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel – Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11:00am at Spotswood Baptist Church, 4009 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg with the Rev.Dan Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Holly Baptist Church Cemetery, Remington, VA.
Pallbearers will be, Arnold Lee Tipton, Brian Lee Tipton and H. Ray Acors, Sr., all of Fredericksburg, Joe Gagliardi of Locust Grove, Charles Hughes of Spotsylvania County and John Gilliland of the Fredericksburg Sheriff’s office.
