Shawna K. Nehrkorn's Obituary
Shawna Nehrkorn, 36, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010. Shawna was raised by her loving grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Nehrkorn in Rock Falls, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert. Shawna is survived by her grandmother, Dorothy; two half sisters, Shannon Nehrkorn of Morrison, IL and Alex Nehrkorn of Rock Falls, IL; her Uncle Rick Nehrkorn and his wife Alexandra Carola of Rock Falls, IL; and countless wonderful friends and relatives.
Shawna was raised in Rock Falls, IL. She attended high school there for two years, and then finished her last two years of high school at Illinois School for the Deaf, in Jacksonville, IL. After graduating high school, Shawna attended college at Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C. She graduated in 1996 with a BA in psychology, and then in 2007 with a master’s degree in administration and supervision. Until the time of her death, Shawna worked for “Purple” Language Services. Shawna had a passion and love for animals. A memorial fund has been set up in Shawna’s name. All donations will benefit the local animal shelter in Rock Falls, IL, Happy Tails Animal Shelter, which is a no kill shelter. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to: Shawna K.
