Sharon Fay Ortiz's Obituary
Sharon Fay (Furr) Ortiz, 53, of Madison, Virginia passed away on June 14, 2017. She was born in Culpeper, VA on October 4, 1963 to the late Willie Ashby Furr and Mildred Furr of Reva, Virginia.
She attended Madison High School and was a graduate of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. She was the youngest of six children.
Ms. Ortiz was retired from the U.S. Department of State, where she was employed as a Personnel Analyst. She spoke multiple languages fluently and never lost her love for learning, cultural diversity, politics and Willie Nelson. She was an avid traveler, reader and made friends wherever she went. She was intelligent, fun and unique. Her friendships span the globe and she will be universally missed.
She leaves behind her partner, Santiago Uribe; her two brothers, Jimmy Woodward and wife, Josie of Rixeyville, VA and Willie Furr, Jr. of Owings, MD; and one sister, Fleda Pugliese and husband, Domenico of Penn Laird, VA. In addition, Sharon left behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly.
Ms. Ortiz was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Frederick and Charles Furr.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
