Sharon Mary O'Meara Girard's Obituary
On Sunday, November 10, 2019, Sharon Mary O’Meara Girard, loving wife and mother of two children passed away at age 61 in Fredericksburg, VA after a valiant battle with lung disease.
Sharon was born on September 11, 1958 in Jersey City, NJ to Joan and William O’Meara. She graduated from Howell High in 1976. She worked for the Civil Service for 14 years. She married Charles Edward Girard in Beaufort, SC on July 13, 1985. They raised two daughters, Lauren Ashley and Jessica Nichole. Sharon helped develop an English education program in Okinawa, Japan where she taught English for 10 years.
Sharon was a military wife with friends across the globe. She had a passion for giving. She had an enthusiasm to travel, especially around East Asia and loved Okinawa, Japan more than anywhere else. She loved sharing bottles of wine and good food with friends, getting dressed up for Halloween, and decorating the house for each holiday. All of her friends and children’s friends can vividly recall how many Christmas lights and decorations Sharon and Chuck could fit on one house. She was dedicated to her daughter’s many endeavors.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Joan. She is survived by husband, Charles; daughter, Lauren (son-in-law, David) and daughter, Jessica (daughter-in-law, Mallori). She is also survived by father, William O’Meara; step-father, Karl Pfeifer; sisters, Patricia Coffey and Kathleen Caleca; brother, Robert O’Meara; aunt, Beverly Lynch; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sharon’s family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
