Seymour Theodore Martin, Jr.'s Obituary
Seymour (Pat) Theodore Martin, Jr., 85, of Culpeper, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Fauquier Hospital. He was born July 19, 1939, to the late Seymour Theodore Martin, Sr. and Lucille Evangelin Britton Martin in Wilson, Niagara, NY.
Seymour joined the Navy and served on destroyers. After his tour of duty was up, he got a job with the Federal Government in Telecommunications. This role led him and his family to serve overseas. They spent approximately 3 years at each of the following locations: Bangkok, Thailand; Istanbul, Turkey; Kinshasa, Zaire, Africa; Clark Airforce Base, Philippines; and Athens, Greece. Once he retired, he found himself needing to do something else, so he started working for Walmart, where everyone knew him.
Seymour is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ruth Martin; sons, Joseph “Joe” Douglas Martin and Seymour “Pat” Theodore Martin, III and his wife, Christine; grandchildren, Braxton Ryder Sparks, Amanda Christine Martin, Kathrine “Katie” Danielle Martin, Megan Marie Gonzalez, and husband, Andreas, and Patrick Michael Martin; great grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia, Wyatt, Mia, and Mateo; sisters, Cheri Potocki and Karen Bohn; and a host of additional family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Seymour is preceded in death by his son, Mitchell “Mitch” Craig Martin; brothers, Ron Martin and Jim Martin; and sisters, Joyce Koss and Connie Salmari.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 420 Willow Lawn Drive, Culpeper, VA, with Bishop Erik Bowler presiding.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, 4160 Rixeyville Rd, Jeffersonton, VA, with honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
