Sean T. Harney's Obituary
Sean T. Harney, 44, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born on July 19, 1981, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Sean brought warmth, laughter, and unwavering love to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Sean was a devoted husband to Yuly Vargas, his partner in life for 16 wonderful years and his wife for 11 of those years. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, laughter, and family memories that will be cherished forever. He was a proud and loving father to Andrew Vargas and Athena Vargas, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest pride.
He is survived by his father, Thomas Stanley Harney; his loving godmother, Chrystal Fourcard, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and humor. Sean was preceded in death by his mother, Agnest J. Trott; his beloved grandmother, Celestine Z. Trott ( a.k.a Momma Trott) and his paternal grandparents.
Sean worked for Verizon for over 12 years, where he was known not only for his hard work and dedication, but also known for wearing his black hoodie all year long. He had the ability to make people laugh during the longest days. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke, a sarcastic comment, or one of his unforgettable stories, Sean had a gift for bringing smiles to those around him.
He will be remembered for his big heart, loyal spirit, quick wit, and the way he made the people he loved feel protected and cared for. Sean had the kind of personality that could light up a room -and if there was good food, good music, or a reason to laugh, he was usually at the center of it all.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love and memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to have shared in his life.
Sean will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.
