Sarah White's Obituary
Sarah White, 86, of Jeffersonton, VA died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She was born March 12, 1934 in Jeffersonton to the late Robert and Marie Shepherd.
She joined Rising Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She later became a member of the choir, member of the pastor’s aide club, a Sunday school teacher, and she also served as the church clerk for some 35 plus years. Sarah loved cooking and almost anyone could tell you, “Sarah White made a mean bowl of potato salad”.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lewis White, six sons; James Sheppard (Cynthia) of Scottsville, VA, Kenneth Sheppard of Warrenton, Ronald White (Brenda) of Winston Salem, NC, Wayne White (Ramona) of Yakima, WA, Edward White of Jeffersonton, VA, Mark White of Culpeper VA, two daughters; Linda Robinson (Walter) of Manassas, VA, and Maxine Peterson (Derek) of Warrenton VA, along with her adopted daughter, Anita Smith (Dan) of Gainesville, VA. She is also survived by two brothers; John Sheppard of Jeffersonton, VA, Clarence Sheppard (Gladys) of Fredericksburg, VA, three sisters; Virginia Lewis, Mamie Sheppard, both of Jeffersonton, VA and Louise Neal of Charlotte, NC, fourteen grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Sheppard, along with four brothers; Frank, James, Melvin, and Wilbur, four sisters; Anita, Yvonne, Ethel, and Mary Ellen Yates Richards.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 mandates, masks are required to enter the building.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Jerome Gipson, Sr. officiating. A viewing will begin one hour prior to the service. The family would like to invite those unable to attend, to join the service via livestream at
