Sandra Lucille Pates' Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we write this obituary of our dearly departed loved one, Sandy. On December 19, 2020, Sandy received her angel wings and joined her loving parents, Captain William” Bill” Seal and Marilyn Seal; her wonderful brother, William L. Seal, Sr.; and her sweet baby grandson, Richard Pates, III.
Sandy owned and operated Mr. and Mrs. Hairstyles in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was the office manager of the Commonwealth Tax and Bookkeeping for many years.
Sandy leaves behind her loving husband of 39 years, Richard Dwight Pates, Sr.; her three sons, Richard Dwight Pates, Jr. and his wife, Mildred, Chet Coleman Pates, and Richard Mason Pates; her beloved grandchildren, Autumn Pates, Charlotte Pates, and Michael Pates; two brothers, Dr. Morris Seal and his wife, Jackie and Paul P. Seal, Sr.; her sister, Carolyn Seal Ervin and her husband, Larry, Sr.; her sweet, sweet little puppy, Chewy, who will surely miss her; her nephews, Larry Ervin, Jr. Paul P. Seal, Jr., Bill Seal, Jr., Derrick Seal, and Brian Seal; nieces, Rani Wood and Renee Reid; great nephews, Nekae Reid, Marshall Seal, and Conner Ervin; and great nieces, Andrea Piazza, Layla Ervin, Jessica Wood, and Addison Ervin.
Sandy was born in Kissimmee, Florida. In 1968, Sandy moved to Virginia. She graduated from James Monroe High School in 1973. After a short illness Sandy made her final journey into God's Kingdom.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 4044 Plank Road, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, Sandy’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in her honor Salem Baptist Church.
