Aww dear Sam. such a kind, FUN, resilient woman and friend. Totally cool to be with Sam because of all the laughing we'd do on our short lunch breaks. Jill and I met Sam at Wilderness Elementary School (Spotsy Co Public Schools) as the school's full-time Speech-Language Pathologists. I couldn't wait to get to know her. From the get-go, you can tell that she knows her OT stuff, that she was a practical strategies OT, and that she was FUN. and her students loved her. Jill and I would finish up our last morning session and rush through the hallways to her room to hide from staff referrals/questions on our lunch break. plus Sam had 'The Microwave'. First time together (and after), we're getting ready to sit down to eat and laugh, and a student walks in and gets on the platform swing in her room to chill out and swing. Both of us look at her, but I say, 'what's with that? Duty-free lunch' (former building 'union' rep). Sam says, 'yeah I know. He needs it this time of day though. He's just going to swing and leave'. Even that sounded funny. as well as reality. Her caring approach that she brought to meeting student needs at just the right time. That's Sam. Public school therapists can't wait to be around another therapist to chat it up. share stories. hear ideas. We are so hectic-busy meeting a schedule that even a 10 min lunch is our only break. We hit pay-dirt as SLPS to get to know someone from another field, OT Sam. SLP AM 10 sec convo: 'Is Sam coming to WES today?' Yes, Oh good, I can get through the morning'. Getting down to Sam's room, we had the time of our lives because she was a 'centering light' to us. A kind being who witnessed to us that caring for each other on our Earthly journey can be joyful and FUN! In Gratitude for being Graced with knowing Sam.
