Sally Mae Whitlock's Obituary
Sally Mae Whitlock, born January 16, 1936 went home to be with God on February 11, 2015.
Born to Albert and Ollie Pullen, she grew up working hard. She cut and sold firewood, milked cows and did anything she needed to do to provide for her four children. Moving from Virginia to North Carolina to Maryland, she settled in Church Hill and continued working with cows, pigs and firewood with her late husband, W.G. Whitlock. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center, watching the Orioles, and attending church at Liberty Lighthouse.
Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; son in-law, James Cecil; two brothers, Mac Arthur and JR Pullen, both of Culpeper, VA; and a sister, Dorothy Ruewer of Culpeper, VA.
She leaves behind four children: Jake Pullen of Chestertown, MD, Dianne Cecil of Centreville, MD, Edward Pullen and his wife, Mary, of Centreville, MD, and Phyllis States of Millington, MD. She also leaves two grandchildren, Amanda Reuter of Centreville, MD and Edward Pullen of Centreville, MD; and a dog, Maggie.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 16 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD from 6-8 pm.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 17 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA, where relatives and friends may visit beginning at noon.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
