Ruth Leake Meade's Obituary
Ruth Leake Meade, 86, of Jeffersonton passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital after a short illness. Ruth was born “Ruth Virginia” on April 8, 1922 to the late William J. and Vina S. Leake in Rappahannock County.
Ruth was one of 9 children and they all attended Rappahannock Public Schools. On December 4, 1937 she married James Wallace Meade and moved to Culpeper County where they lived in the Jeffersonton area until 1981 when he passed away. From that marriage, there were two children, James Wallace Meade, Jr. (Donna) of Culpeper and Elizabeth Davis (Archie) of Aroda, VA. She is survived by three grandchildren, Holly Meade (Todd Atkins) of Flint Hill, James Kyle Clark (Terry) of Brightwood and Kenny W. Davis (Carol) of Aroda, VA and one great grandson, Josh Clark of Brightwood. Another granddaughter, Deborah Clark preceded her in death. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Leake of Culpeper and numerous nieces and nephews.
“Nannie”, as she was called by her grandchildren, was so proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She loved showing pictures and snapshots of her family. Her greatest love was her Lord. She was the oldest member of the Jeffersonton Baptist Church and her faithfulness and loyalty was evident in Sunday School pins that showed 50 years of perfect attendance. Besides the joy of her family and her church family, Ruth loved to be outside working in her yard and garden.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Rev. Sandy Martin, a family friend, and Pastor Marshall Braylo, her former pastor, will be officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Jeffersonton Baptist Church Building Fund, Treasurer, 15519 Waterloo Rd., Amissville, VA 20106 or the Little Fork Fire and Rescue, 6011 Rixeyville Rd., Rixeyville, VA 22737.
