Russell Wade "Tommy" Jenkins' Obituary
Russell Wade “Tommy” Jenkins, 86, of Culpeper, VA died Friday, June 25, 2021 at his home. He was born April 22, 1935 in Culpeper to the late Russell Elmer Jenkins and Elizabeth Yowell Marks.
Tommy’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a former employee of C. R. Dodson for 28 years and the proud owner and operator of R. W. Jenkins General Hauling for 25 years. He was an active member of Alum Spring Baptist Church for 56 years where he served as a trustee, deacon, and former chairman of the buildings and grounds committee. Tommy was a huge Washington Redskins fan along with his wife and had the privilege of personally hauling white sand to Joe Gibbs.
Tommy is survived by his two daughters; Wanda E. Jenkins and Janice Corbin (Don), three grandchildren; Joey Corbin (Chrissy), Chelsea Baker (Ed), and Ashley Clatterbuck (Chris), four great-grandchildren; Bailey Corbin, Katie Baker, Savannah Corbin, and Noah Clatterbuck. He is also survived by two special nieces; Donna Dowell and Rita Somerville, and Terri “Rhoda” Green, whom he thought of as a daughter.
In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his loving and adoring wife of 40 years, Lucy Mildred Jenkins and his sister, Dorothy Riley.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ron Young officiating. The family would like to invite those unable to attend to join the service via live stream at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1624815825122327
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tommy’s name to Alum Spring Baptist Church Building Fund, 11058 Dutch Hollow Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
