Ruby Morse Ward's Obituary
Ruby M. Ward, age 94, of Manassas, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011.
She was born in Hays, KY on August 11, 1917 to the late Thomas E. and Lillie J. Morse. Ruby resided in Madisonville, KY, until moving to Northern Virginia in 1941. During the war effort she began a career with the Dept. of the Navy which spanned 40 years. Ruby started as a typist and through her diligent work, retired as a contract negotiator in 1981. After retirement she continued to work for various defense contractors and universities. Ruby’s life was devoted to her career and her family. Affectionately known by everyone as “Naughty Granny”, she will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence L. Ward in 1990; her longtime companion, Francis E. Brettel; and her grandson, Tom Jr.
Survivors include her son, Tom Ward and wife Jackie; a sister, Alma Pendley and husband Del; nine grandchildren, Jim Ward, Roger Ward and wife Carol, Del Ward, Gene Ward and wife Anne, Mike Ward and wife Debbie, David Ward, Suzi Hawkins, Sharon Hawkins, Hafeez Kahn; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Thursday, Sept. 22nd, with funeral services to follow at 7 PM, at the Found & Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Rd. Manassas, VA 20109. Graveside services will be 11 AM on Saturday, Sept. 24th at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, KY.
