Ruby Embrey Hudson's Obituary
Ruby Hudson, 95, of Culpeper died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Our Father’s House Christian Home in Culpeper, Virginia. She was born December 24, 1919 in southern Fauquier County. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian Edwards.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Culpeper Baptist Church. She served for many years as a “pink lady” at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Ruby and her husband, Robert, owned and operated the Foodway Store in Culpeper for many years. She enjoyed living life to its fullest and being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and a friend to everyone she met.
She is survived by her three daughters; Barbara Ann Cassity and her husband, Donald of Charlottesville, Linda Hudson Thornton of Culpeper and Jane Thomson and her husband, Larry of Culpeper; grandchildren, Michael Cover Cassity and his wife, Elizabeth, Philip Lee Thornton, IV and his wife, Kelly, Felicia Lee Cary Thornton Wymore and her husband, Brad, Hudson Hull Martin and David Andrew Martin; and great grandchildren, Michael Christian Cassity, Mason McLean Thornton and Molly Rodes Wymore.
A nephew, many nieces and cousins remain in Culpeper and surrounding areas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Hudson; and all her siblings.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Our Father’s House Christian Home for their wonderful, loving care and devotion to Ruby for the last six years.
The family will receive friends at 1 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2015 with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manna Ministry of Culpeper Presbyterian Church, The Culpeper Food Closet, The Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department, or the Culpeper Volunteer Rescue Squad.
