Ruby was one of the main reasons that our music ministers would come out each month for the monthly hymn sing. She appreciated it so much and would tell us how it was one of her favorite times of the month🥰. When COVID began and we moved to singing outdoors, she asked us "Do you know 'Count your blessings?' We should be singing that!" We didn't know it but found it and brought it the very next month. She was right. We've been singing it every month since. I suppose I didn't really know Ruby, but I loved her. I know that she grew up in Rappahannock. I know she used to bring in the sheaves when she was a girl and how much we all loved to sing "Bringing in the Sheaves" because of that. I know that they had a big white horse that used to pull them to church. I know that "Count your Blessings" was one of the first songs that she remembers learning to sing. I know that she was kind and gentle. I know that I admired her good attitude despite wheelchair. I know how much I looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile and spirit each month. I know her family must be pretty special because she was such a special lady. I know I will miss her terribly. I know that I will keep her family in my prayers.
