Roy Daniel Ellis' Obituary
Roy “Bud” Daniel Ellis, 83, of Castleton, VA passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Culpeper Hospital. He was born May 2, 1941, in Ducktown, TN to the late Hub and Ruby Ellis.
Roy was a native of Blue Ridge, GA, and grew up on Lake Blue Ridge. In High School, he was a two-time State of Georgia champion in typing. After joining the Navy at 17 years old, and serving six years, he spent 30 plus years working for the State Department before retiring in 1991. Then he enjoyed 14 years working with Lockheed Martin, before retiring for good in 2006. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church since 1977. Even though Roy camped out in Virginia for 57 years, his heart never left Blue Ridge Georgia. Roy enjoyed spending time outside, cutting wood, and fishing. He especially loved going to his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ann Ellis; three children, Virginia Aten (John), Andrew Ellis, and Daniel Ellis (Karen); and five grandchildren, Nathanael “Nate” Miller (Sarah), Noel Miller, Chad Ellis, Luke Ellis, and Sarabeth Ellis.
