Ross Calvin Fender's Obituary
Ross Calvin Fender, 86, of Springfield died on Monday, September 14, 2009 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was born on April 7, 1923 in Ogallala, Nebraska to the late Leroy and Helen Fender.
Mr. Fender attended George Washington University for 5 years. He was a mail courier for the United States Postal Service and was a professional amateur radio operator. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1948 and in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Roberta Settle Fender of Springfield, his sister-in-laws, Edna Settle Green, Maude Butler Settle, and Dorothy Hitt Settle, his brother-in-law, Charles L. Settle, numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jim Rodgers of Woodbridge.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating and honors being provided by the VFW Post #2524.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
Pallbearers will be Stratford Settle, Howard Green, Jr., Brian Nicholson, Randy Shifflett and Justin Shifflett.
