Earlene, Brian, and Seth,
I know without a doubt in my heart that Ronnie is present with our Lord. But it makes me so sad that his presence will be gone from our extended family.
Ronnie was the first of my many cousins from an extended family stemming from nine children. (Our mothers, Gladys and Billie were sisters from those nine children.) Being one of the later cousins, my earliest memories of Ronnie, was of a tall, handsome, grown man with dark hair and a pretty wife. When I grew up, I realized he wasn't really that tall, but he was still a handsome man with nice hair and a pretty wife. I remember them being nice to me and I always enjoyed our family visits with them until they moved away from Newport News.
Since those many years ago, I mostly saw Ronnie and his family at our Cordle Family reunions. There he would always make a point of saying hello and inquiring about my life. My mom spent a lot of time around Ronnie when he was a young child and he held a special spot in her heart. She always appreciated the time he gave her at those busy family reunions.
It was the occasion of his mothers funeral when I had the first privilege of hearing Ronnies gift of speaking from the heart. I recall what a lovely and touching tribute he offered to our family on that sad occasion. Just a few years ago, he was so gracious to offer the eulogy for his uncle Bob. And I'm sure there have been others. Knowing he was a long-time Sunday School teacher, it makes me smile to know how many lives and hearts my cousin has touched with his gift of words and wisdom. Anyone who has ever heard Ronnie share from his heart and his Savior is the richer for it. He will be missed.
To God be the glory,
Pam Griffith Kitchen
