Ronald "Ronnie" Lynn Pollard's Obituary
Ronald "Ronnie" Lynn Pollard was the sixth child of the late Walter L. and MaryLou Broadus Pollard. He was born on July 13, 1960. With his daughter and son by his side, he departed his life peacefully on October 28, 2024, at UVA University Hospital in Charlottesville, VA after complications from his battle with a respiratory illness
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Sharonda Morton; son, Brian McNeil; goddaughter, Janae Drumgoole; three grandchildren, Karryn Morton and twins, Rowan and Roman Morton. He also leaves one brother, Wayne Nathaniel Pollard (Jeceita); two sisters, Sharon Mack (Harry); and Vivian Pollard; sisters-in-law, Estelle, Linda, and Barbara Pollard; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis and Joyce Pollard; and three brothers, MacArthur "Butch," Eric "Ricky," and Danny Pollard.
Ronnie attended Culpeper County schools then enlisted in the Job Corps Center in Coburn, VA, and later joined the Army where he served for three years as a Specialist 4th Class. After his honorable discharge, he worked various jobs before establishing his own landscaping business, "Ron's Tree Service." He was later employed by Culpeper County Public Schools until his health declined.
Ronnie was a kind, sensitive and caring person. Before his illness began to accelerate, he was once a significant caregiver for his elderly uncle, Forrest Tinsley. Ronnie assisted his uncle with grocery shopping, picking up medications, transporting him to family events, and assisting him with personal care items.
Ronnie loved hanging out with family and friends, being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and searching for places to find good seafood. He was an avid Redskins/Commander fan but also enjoyed rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Post Covid-19, Ronnie spent every Sunday listening to online services of Ebenezer Baptist Church or Free Union Baptist Church. All who knew Ronnie will miss hearing him say two of his famous expressions: "It is what it is" and "Si senor."
