Ronald Stuart Dodson's Obituary
Ronald Stuart “Pop” Dodson went to be with his Lord, his Savior on April 19, 2014. He passed peacefully at home after a short illness. He was born June 3, 1949 in Warrenton to the late Eugene and Dorothy Dodson.
Pop, as he was known to his grandchildren, served his country in the US Air Force for 4 years and was a member of Hope Hill Baptist Church. He was well known for his appreciation of the Lords word and loved to sing gospel music. Two of his blessed bands were Amissville Family Gospel and The Kings Travelers. Pop worked the past two years for Whitner and Jackson who were very kind and caring to him and to whom the owners were very supportive during his time of need. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed his time as a coach for little league sports football and baseball. Pop was a much loved man by many people and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ruth Ann Dodson; three children, Tammy Sheets and her husband, Harry of Bluefield, VA, Neil Dodson and his wife, Claudia of Culpeper and Chris Dodson and his wife, Tina of Viewtown; three sisters, Joyce Wilson and her husband, Craig, Gloria Switzer and her husband, JR and Janet Hitt and her husband, Roger, all of Viewtown.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Kerry Flinchbaugh and her husband, Randy of FL, Nick Compton and his wife, Theresa of VA Beach, Evan Dodson of Amherst, VA, Lexy Heckethorn, Carli Dodson of Viewtown, Elie and Sofia Dodson of Culpeper; and two great grandchildren, Harper and Joe and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richie Dodson; his sister and brother-in-law, Sherlene and Larry Wayland; and two brothers, Clarence “Boosie” and Gene Dodson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lines and Rev. Sean Wayland officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nick Compton, Travis Dodson, Keith Switzer, Curtis Sullivan, Evan Dodson, Wayne Dodson, Daniel Hitt and Daryl Sesler.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
